1996 Aurora HELP.....!!!!

I have a 1996 olds aurora with the 4.0 Liter northstar engine, I have it for sale in the sale section...... heres the deal I just had the oil changed in this car, then took it on a road trip....it started makin the noise about 200 miles into my trip....the oil change was 40$ because the guy said my engine holds 8 quarts of oil....I just went out and got my owners manual from my car an in the manual it says my engine holds 7 quarts of oil....could this be the reason why the engine is acting funny and making knocking noises now??? I got the oil changed at the penzoil speedylube  in downtown mt morris.....

It is also blowing some of smoke from the exhaust specially when i take off from a stop light or stop sign, it didnt do this until i got the oil changed...

well if it ran fine before and your motor takes 7 and theres now 8 quarts,then drain 1 quart out and see what it dose.

well, i called there an bitched... the dude came out an it was 4 quarts low, it doesnt have an oil leak either.... and before it never burned oil.....he also got under my car with a wrench, and did something....im not sure what he did.... but its fishy, thats all i know.

sounds like you took it to walmart tire lube express. And I had heard that they did take 8 quarts of oil I would check to see if maybe your particular year took 7 and some took 8.  and if they overfilled it they probably  it up

my owner manual says 7 quarts.... its the original manual to the car.. im taking it to a caddy dealership tomorrow.

I own the same car and yes it does take 8 quarts of oil.
