thats a good idea BD I'll mention that to her

Hammerlane

Geez guys, maybe we should just pave it and call it good  ==doh

It does heal itself.. I only get to go once or twice a year but each time I go it's different...
I remember when Lk Michigan was almost impassable but for the most serious trucks..now most anyone can get thru..

I like the compressor idea.. ==np

Jeep Thrills

There needs to be a wider bypass on the shortcut trail to let opposing traffic get by. A lot of the trees along the trails need the low hanging branches trimmed up to protect paint and so people with open topped vehicles don't lose an eye.Outlets under the pavillion to plug in an air compressor or battery charger would be nice. More/bigger hills. A more accurate map.
Wheel it like you stole it ,or borrowed it from some dude you really don't like.
Get busy livin',or get busy dyin'.

blasterguy911

yea make the trails wider and make some of the trail filled in some holes are way deep in the woods

Can't promise anything all she can do is bring it up to her boss, and see what happens

sandblaster88

Well guys today is the drive thru at the mounds. As far as  air comp she will ask to see if they can get one installed . No promise though she will try . Please dont ask her to 4 wheel her jeep though because she wont let me do it LOL. It will take time to get this place right but she will do her best to accomodate all off roaders.

in conjunction with the trimming of the trails , my neighbors use to be in a club called [face full of mud ]. they as a club they would set a date and go to mounds to clean and trim the mess back from the winter mayhem . maybe something like can be set up with the mounds and the [awesome got mud guys and gals out there] , to that before may 15th opener. just an idea ?????????.

mudslayer2008

Thats a sweet Idea.       I'm game  n e weekend I'm avalible

I mentioned a mounds clean up day quite awhile back, nobody replied to it, I think it would show what the mounds mean to the people who go there, also with enough people working on certain tasks like removeing downed trees it would get done quick, the admission fee to the mounds is a very fair price but we cant expect it to cover all that might need to be done to improve the mounds, I guess im not sure of the legality to citizens who use the mounds going out to clean up the park being that it is a county park but it would seem that they would welcome the help, with a plan, if it can be setup I will be there.

sandblaster88

Any people interested donating some time for clean up should call 810-736-7100 and ask for Dave Parks i am sure he would gladly welcome the offer. As stated in another post a few years back another group would donate time on a weekend and help clean it up. I will gladly come help just let me know when.

Crazymays77

i have always wanted to cut the downed tree up and get them out of the way. but was told we cant do it. but if he says that we can then i will do it. i have no problem with that. So if someone sets a day up to do that let me know and i will bring my chainsaw.

Mudduck

yeah i use to be in a face full of mud club and we try clean the trails up at the mounds sometime on our own sometime greatlake4x4 host a trail clean up that we joined up  but last 3 years i think   gl4x4 hasnt done a trail clean up  unless i didnt know about...  we would repair fences  trim a low hanging tree pick up trash along the trails

everytime  i go out there,  i pick things up.    i olney go over there  3 or 4 time a yr.   if  everyone just did a  little bit, it would be a clean place. ==dunno

one thing i could see doing is to widen the access trail going to the right from the parking lot. can't get 2 wide going through there. it would be nice to be able to have 2 way traffic without accidents like i almost had today because of the narrow trail. also sucks that it's banked alot almost slid into a dirtbiker due to that.

Mounds is new to me, hopefully I can make it out there before I leave May 11th. Will be just easy trails, and my dirtbike also. Will be first real trail for yours truly.  a=f
