well the 350 trans in my truck is pretty much smoked again and will be coming out sometime soon.  anyways im starting over with brand new everyhting for this trans including a competely diff reverse manual valve body.  and sense it is going to be a lil while before i have all the money im thinkin of tossing a 700r4 that i have sittin out in my shed to get my by for awhile.  now my question is  sense this is a stock trans do i have to have the kick down cable booked up or can i leave it hanging off somewhere?  im using a b&m shifter so if i need to down shift its nothing to jsut down shift with that.  but i was just wondering  is it going to hurt the trans if i dont have that hooked up?  normally i would jsut hook it up  but my bracket for my throttle cable doesnt have the spot for the kickdown cable to attach  thats why i was wondering if it is ok  if i ust leave it unhooked?

with a 700 you need to have the kickdown cable hooked up. it controls not only when the trans shifts but how hard. unless you wanna fry that trans i'd simply hook it up

you also have to hook up the lock up solinoid so the converter locks up at crusing speed.
I was told this is the only time a 700 cools is when the converter is locked.

the cable has to be set so 700 wont build to much pressure and break  u hook it up have someone hold gas pedal to floor adjust cable tite at carb  by push lock button and pulling back on cable at mount bracket

The "kick down cable" MUST be hooked up or you will fry the tranny pretty quick.

I wouldn't worry about the lockup converter with it unhooked it will run alittle warmer and a few hundred more RPM's but as long as you have a good trans cooler you would be fine.

another thing to think about is the fact that your shifter is set up for a 3speed not a 4speed, so you will have to change that or you may end up causing problems.

I would just find a cheap 350 and put in it for a while it would be a lot easier, plus what tcase are you running ??? unless it's a 208 your gonna run into more problems there. ==2cents

im running a 208 t case so that isnt a problem hooking it up to a 700.  as for the shifter  there is a lil pin  or whatever is that i pop out ot make work with a 700.  ill more then likely be pulling it here soon cuz i wont have my trans built by the time the ridge road bog comes around cuz i still havnet gotten called back to work.  so even picking up a cheap 350 trans to put in place isnt worth it.  cuz for one id ont have the money to buy one plus finding one cheap that will hook up to a 208 seems a lil harder to come across then one that was hooked to a 203.

guess ill have to steal back the other bracket my buddy took from me that has the spot for the kick down cable to connect to. (just remembered he took it from me.)

unless i end up gettin more back in taxes then i thought then ill just hold off while im gettin my trans built then.  just as of right now i duno how long it would be before i had the money cuz im not sure when im getting called back to work yet.
