theres a guy in frankenmuth randy? sheoff that makes em out of 10 ton mooring line for ships
33% stretch. i have one, on my 20 foot rope it littleraly stretches on about 7 feet then u hit the end hard
and the stuck truck moves forward 7 feet, pretty awesome, hasnt let me down yet.

i think 60-70$ is what i paid for mine.i have his card at the shop. he can make them to any length u want.
hand braided ends and if u ever pull the end loop out give it back to him and he' fix it free

blasterguy911

we have got a small one for are quads thats the only problem with it the ends come out so had to tie them

I've known of guy using them I don't see a problem with it as long as they are designed for it. look at it this way you can get synthetic rope to put in place of a winch cable now ==shrug

not saying that this product does not work, but the fact that there is an implied warranty against breakage does no good if you have to have it removed prior to being repaired... if ya know what I mean.

any recovery product is prone to defects/failure if not properly cared for or utilized in the proper fashion..
with the development of todays fibers the availablity of highly effective recovery straps/ropes etc.. is constantly improving,
but the purchase and use of any such "New" product should be used with extreme caution.. and the purchaser should always understand that "you get what you pay for".. always check out a product prior to purchasing for weight ratings and/or independant testings/ratings etc...

remember.. it's not just "Your" life that is in danger...

good luck.. I'll stick with my strap for now..

MORGZILLA!

I saw someone use a rope today at glawdin, they hooked it up between 2 full size trucks, one of which was pretty stuck.. and on the first tug, the rope snapped in half. but other than that, i have no knowledge whatsoever about ropes.

I have acquired some @2 inch rope for using in recovery. 2 inch rope has @ 90,000lb rating. I have been using the 6 inch straps with a 65k rating. since I am using used ropes that may have defects in it I want a size with a higher rating to make up for any defects that I could not see after inspection.
I have done some research and do not find anything wrong with using rope.
I am posting up to see if anyone else has any experience with rope.

I can put eye splices in twisted rope, but not this kind. i used a bowline knot. there was an eye splice on each end, I cut the rope into 3 sections. 30ft, 60ft and 50ft. I found that tying each bowline knot used an extra 5 feet of rope.

I have a rope I got from 4x4ken. I like it better than a strap because it is lighter and easier to move around. I pulled mud king out with it Saturday

I bought this rope from some guy and it turned out to be too stretchy. It was like a rubber band!

homewrecker john

My life depends on rope everyday. The rope i hang off is rated @7,000lbs and is only 1/2" in diameter.

Proud and Powerful

Ropes aren't bad as long as you get the one for the right application for example using a lifting strap compared to a recovery snatch strap  ++peace
