has anyone ever made custom leaf spring shackles to lift a truck instead of bigger leaf springs or shackle flip?
it seems like if they were built right they would work out awesome with a talented fabricator
would there be any downfalls ?

depends which way the shackle faces... if its pointing up, if it were longer it would lower the rear end down.. shackle flip + longer shackles youll get more lift...

BIG DOG

 HOW MUCH LIFT YOU WANT

2 WHEEL DRIVE TRUCKS HAVE LONGER SHACKELS
I CUT THE RIVITS OFF MY REARS   SHACKELS   AND REUSE THE 2 LOWER HOLE    WITH A PIECE OF 1/4 INCH AND DROP IT DOWN AND RE MOUNT YOUR SHACKEL TO THAT

depends on vehicle design..
you understand that the "shackle" is what connects the leaf spring and the mount..
on a shackle flip, you are actually flipping the mount..

on a CJ (jeep) there are kits you can buy (or fab them yourself) for the fronts..where the shackel itself is lengthened.. but those shackles are on the front of the leaf spring...

do this on the front of a chevy truck (where the shackle is on the back of the leaf spring) and your driveline angle is seriously affected..
you also increase your chances of lateral movement with longer shackles therefore increasing the likelyhood of damage to driveline components..

it's been done and there are kits available for certain vehicles

It's all fun and games till someone gets knocked up.. down or out !
