might be picking up a chev 502 and i was just wondering if there are as many
build options as there is with a 454, or would i be better off building a 454?

if you dont want the 502 I'll take it!! but you should be able to get a ton more power out of the 502 I think you can use the same parts like heads and cams and stuff like that on both.....

I would love to have a 502 to build!!!!
Have no fear Better Beaters is here.

well if you stroke it a 1/4 inch and bore it .030 over its a 540. call john at northern chassis service, he could tell you anything you could ever want to do with that block, but i can tell you, get afr heads, pricey but worth every dime. 989 673 3516

if you look in jegs or summit the only 502 anything is the whole engine, no piston, cams, cranks etc.
so if i were to bore it out where would i get pistons, rings etc considering the 502 has a bigger bore
than the 454, and they list oversize pistons for damn near every motor but the 502?

502 is a totally different block than a 454. 454 is a mark IV block, 502 is a mark V or markVI. i bet if you tried to call jegs or summit on the phone they might have what your looking for ;)

Calling Jegs or Summit is the problem.  Call a true engine builder and stay away from the big mail order.
In need of a yank strap?  PM me... I have 'em!
