Depending on how much it costs, how easy it is to get to and how many miles are on the motor it might be worth swapping the water pump anyway. ???

did you try a lower temp thermostat like a 180 degree...   the water pump might be weak too.

water pump isnt that much. its kinda difficult to change but could be the problem.

Is it electric fan or belt driven? If it's belt and the shroud is missing it won't draw the air through the radiator. Just around the front.

Im doing the water pump right now..  The old one looks brand new and theres blue silicone under it so its been done sometime or another.. We will see.. Hopefully this does the trick.. whats the possibility of the head gasket?  There is no oil in my coolant and no coolant in my oil....

JaiDeeEmm

I might try the lower temp thermostat  also.. i like that idea

rebelryder

so i have had this problem and this is a big problem. i chased mine around for a long time. after doing the same thing and replaceing every coolant thing i could i come to the point where i had my jeep pressure tested and came to find out my head was cracked. typical jeep. put a new head on and if it fixed the problem. but its possiible your water pump isnt doing the job so. thats just my two pennies

Your thermostat will either work or not.  Dont waste your time with a different temp if you know the thermostat is opening up.

If the new water pump doesnt take care of the problem... ugh, I think it is going to get expensive.

It could also be the radiator...just because you ran flush through it does not mean it's clean and flowing. Once those tubes get clogged up you can run 100 bottles of flush through it and it wont unclog them, the flush will just flow through the few tubes that are not clogged!

In that case I would suspect a bad head gasket or cracked head...you can try replacing the water pump however I have never seen one go bad without leaking or making a horrible noise.

A cooling system is real real simple. You need flow (WATER PUMP) you need a heat exchanger (RADIATOR) and you need air to cool the radiator (FAN or WIND FROM Driving) a thermostat simply allows the motor to reach operating temp faster and during cold weather. If a thermostat is stuck shut it will cause you to over heat but most thermostats now days are fail safe and will fail in the open position.

yes both fans are working.. I havent had the chance to test it since the water pump its been sitting in pieces from my suspension build ill keep this up to date..

when you get a chance find someone with a colling system pressure tester, try that, if you dont have it figured out by the next time im going downstate (prolly easter weekend) i can bring mine over.
