middleroadBOB

for sure, nothing beats the torque of a big block.. i will never go back to a small block

betterbeaters

whats you motor? and what his? specs?  big blocks can make more power but the small block is lighter and cheaper.... I run a 600 hp 383 and love it! but if I had the cash I would build a big block 540!

go big block
races are won by displacement....  if you think that aint true your not american

Swampthing

how many miles are on the big block? what did it come out of? have you heard it run? what comes with it?  does it have all the pulleys and power steering brackets?  after market  intake and carb?? There is more to putting a big block in where a small block was, than just putting it there..  Remember. when ever someone wants to do a trade that is "almost to good to be true" it usually is.   And remember. stock big block chevys DO NOT LIKE RPM.  anything over 6000 will hurt it.

Small block is cheap reliable HP     Big blocks are NICE but expensive     Nothing like hearing a small block twist 9000rpm ( but not cheap either )

Ditto...plus you know exactly whats in your motor and how many miles are on it. His might have a gazillion miles and be ready for a rebuild. I would take a built small block over a stock big block any day. No replacement for displacement is true to a certain extent...I have killed some big blocks last summer with my Trans Am 425hp with a 150 shot. Whomped on a 396 chevelle and also a 440 road runner like they had a 6cyl! Keep what ya got and if you want big power save up and build a big block the right way...but be prepared to spend big bucks!

I run a Big Block.
I love it.
But.................
built 350  or stock 402 ????

52 cubes difference is not enough for me.

I would stay with 350

There is very little that will have to be changed over.  Motor mounts are the same.  Trans should be the same.  MAYBE radiator, but I highly doubt that in this case.  Pretty sure all the accessories will work.

You going to trade ignition also?
In need of a yank strap?  PM me... I have 'em!

i would stay with the sb in a street car
