i picked up a 241 t case out of a suburban  not to long ago that im going ot be puttin in my truck when i get my trans back.  my question is  looking at the back of the t case  you have the nose cone that you can take off with 4 bolts.  now the part that this nose cone bolts to  that part can also be taken off with  by  i dont remember how many bolts without having to split the case in half.  my question is  after you get that nose cone off there is a metal clip right by the bearing that seems the be the only thing that holds that second section from coming off after you remove the bolts.   is that right or no?   i started pulling it apart hte other day and gave up and tried to seal it up as good as i could with rtv (only had about a 1/4" gap cuz i could not get that metal clip off)  but id like to pull it back apart and make sure i get it sealed up good so it doesnt leak when its in the truck, and i just wasnt sure if that metal clip/ring was the only thing that was holding me up from gettin that second section off after i removed the bolts or if there is more.

thanks for any help

Yes im almost positive that the metal clip is the only thing that holds the second part of the cone on, i had the same problem when i tried to pull one apart with a friend, we did the same thing (tried to seal it up with only a small gap to try and get the rtv in) we were told that metal clip is why it wouldnt come completely apart.
