I am thinking about getting another 4.0l for the jeep so when this one breaks i have one to replace it. I'm wondering what years will fit or if all of them will just have to change somethings on it to work. so any info would be great. thanks

and as far as a 4.0 they are all the same im pretty sure i dont see why there would be a big difference between an 87 or 07 other than electronics

all 4.0s are the same the only difference is the intake when it comes to the wrangler 4.0s and the cherokee 4.0s.  ;D

they are not all the same. they are in a way, yes. but the computer systems that control them are different. and the newer grand cherokee/ wrangler motors have a different block setup or w/e from what ive read. also the ~99-01 Cherokees have the distributorless ignition setup. not sure if you could make one that new work, but you should be ok if you stick in the early-mid 90's range. should just have to change some of the sensors around
