i just pulled out the 14 bolt sf  out of my 82 chevy truck.  and have it upforsale.  well a buddy of mine  is interested in it cuz i think it has a factory posi in it but i havnet checked yet.  anyways  he has i think a 96  97  chevy truck with a 14 bolt sf in it but only a 6 lug.  are the axle shafts and all that the same between the 8 lug and 6 lug sf?    also  if he picks this up  can he just switch the brakes and axle shafts from his axle to this one and be good to go or no?   or can he take the locker out of my axle and put it in his and be fine.  cuz i know the spring perchs on my axle are narrower then on his truck

Mudbuster

I think he could take the carrier out of your axle and put it in his but the axles have a different spring mount width so I don't think it would be as easy as bolting your whole axle in his truck. As far as I know the carrier's are interchangeable.

yea i know he would have to cut off and weld on new spring mounts on the axle if he were to bolt mine right in his truck.  i just wasnt sure if the spline count on the spider gears were the same between the 6 lug and 8 lug axle shafts

different spline count on the axle shafts..
