Seen some pretty bad examples of safe wheelin today.

Trying to pull people out with a chain, bad.  Trying to pull people out with a chain with KIDS IN THE BED!!!!! I don't even know what to say to that one ==pissed.  NOT a good idea.

Also seen people pulling others out while they had people in the bed with straps, also not a good idea.

When one truck is pulling or jerking another truck out of the mud, nobody should be in the back of the truck.

Straps break, chains break.  Either one can kill you.  Stay away, stay alive!!!!

Just be safe and go home happy  ==np

I will say though that I was happy to see that most people were safe and actually cared about the well being of themselves and others today a=f

I agree. I broke a 4in strap pullin on a truck once and after seein what it did to my licence plate and braket, I now use some thing for weight if im gonna be yankin hard.YA CANT FIX STUPID.

Yeah, saw some bad moves there. But, saw alot of smart ones too. It appears as though the tides are turning for the better as far as safety is concerned.

Very much so.  I was happy to see that most everyone there did not jerk unless they had to, even if they had a 6" strap.

There was only a few bad examples that I seen, but my guess is that they were probably not very experienced with mudding and just figured "that'll work" and never really thought about what the consequences could have been.

Several replies stating that they saw "unsafe" situations.. how many people stepped up and said/did something????

honestly.. if your not willing to step up and be vocal in someones face.. it's kind of redundant to post it.. don't ya think.

don't get me wrong.. not tryin to be an  ==kma here.. and not sayin ya gotta be one to the people that are bein unsafe.. but a

"friendly"  hey.. you really should'nt do that because...    let them know what they are doin wrong (they really may not realize it)

and if they continue to do it then report them to the individuals that are hosting the event.. I am sure it would be greatly appreciated..

it also shines a positive light on our sport.. we are all responsible for everyones safety.. espessially the novice/ignorant

Lets have a safe season.. no "accidents"  step up and say something.. it's better to be an  ==kma  in someone elses eyes than to have them be a bad memory in yours !!

This is why on my mud truck it's getting real car seats bolted down securely. Plus it will have seat belts, and a roll cage that is at least 8 inches above the heads of anyone riding in the back. I'm even padding the roll cage just incase.  I'm all for people riding in the back, but I really wish more people would do it more safely. Plus when straps and chains are involved nobody should ever be in the way, that's lesson one in offroading period.  ==np

Also, I can be a real ass in person sometimes. If someone is really doing something that dangerous I'm not afraid to say something. I've seen one too many bumpers fly off pulling people out of the swamps, nobody should be in range of that.

when i m stuck  i usually tell my passenger  to duck or sit below the headrest  when someone is yanking me out from either front or back  just a precaution for me and safety for me and my passenger

I had a ball rip out of someones bumper before and smash out the passenger side back window of my truck.  After that I started paying attention to where they are hooking to.  At the mounds when I was 15 or 16.

i saw a lot of that yesterday. not forgetting i seen a few rideing in the back flying around dam near falling out of the back of the truck. i was stunned....

ive seen one to many chains break this winter watching people pull others out of the ditch, there never okay to use, and as far as people rideing in the beds of trucks its never okay if people were meant to ride back there then there would already be seat belts and a roll bar, if ya want a bogger that will hold more people buy a blazer oe an ext. cab. over the summer i could have killed my brother he was rideing in the back of the truck at nite and we went of the road and hit 5 trees and totaled the truck he got lucky but that dosent mean evrybody will.
if ya cant dodge it, then ram it

i agree with this!!

we saw someone attempt to pull someone out at gladwin, using a 1" rope, one that looked like something i've seen horses snap through.. so i was a big cynical, and made a few jokes, very LOUDLY.. then after the rope snapped, a few of us got a lil louder, and more sarcastic and said "WHOEVER SAW THAT ONE COMING, RAISE YOUR HAND" and all of us raised our hands. i think they people got the message.

RIP_K52007

yeah i seen a coupole bad things going on the few minutes i was there.   The WORST was some D.A. doin bout 30 arcross the middle of the field with every window coverd in mud. there isnt anyways he/she could have possibly seen where he/she was going. That dude/dudette needed a ==slap

other than that.. looked like people were bein safe-ish.. which around trucks and mud thats about as close as your gonna get theres always room for error.

Do you guys thing bolting seats(and seatbelts) in the back with a roll cage is ok? For example will be like a cap almost.

as long as everything is solid I don't see a problem with it, theres no difference between that and running a jeep, blazer, or bronco without a top.......

we know what you mean about people being ass's when you try to help them if they act that way then just walk away knowing you did everything you could and if something does happen you won't feel as though it could have possibly been your fault.. If it's something real dangerous do like hammerlane said and tell the person/s holding the event they don't want anyone to die either....

blasterguy911

when pulling people out i always watch wear they are hooking to and make sure that it is safe. another thing i dont get is i see people wenching and jerking on other trucks and people are standing 5 feet from the strap or wench cable. to me that is very unsafe if it break you are most likely going to get hit.
