I went to my local car wash here in Sanford on Sunday and found that two of the three bays were already taken.  I went to go into the third bay only to find mud everywhere.  It was all over the walls and about two inches deep in the ground.  I wanted to clean my car, not go mud bogging in it.

Please, if you take your mud bogger, trail truck, play toy, or whatever else to the car wash and it leaves a mess like that all over the place, just spend the extra $1 and spray down the walls and spray the mud on the floor into the drain.  It only takes a few minutes and gives a much better image of our hobby  8)

EXACTLY!!!

I went to that same car wash with my Blazer the morning of the West Branch trail ride a few weeks ago.  The Blazer was muddy and the guy was there working on cleaning the place up.  He of course came right up to me and asked if I would clean up after myself.  I explained to him that I always do and hate to leave a mess for others as I have a car that I love to keep nice and clean.   We chatted for a bit and he said that he would go and give me extra time so I could clean it up :)

A little respect goes a long way!

I would wash my truck by where I used to live and the guy/owner would give extra time also to wash the stall out. Cause he saw that I was using my own money to keep the bay clean that I was using.

I used to go to the Beaverton muddy bay wash all the time when I lived in Allbright Shores, but now it is too far away when I have a wash here in Sanford.

I actually only rarely use the car wash, and when I do I only use the pressure washer and NEVER the brush on my cars because they scratch the hell out of your paint.  I also don't use the brush on my Blazer either when it is full of mud because someone else might come in next and use it.  Even if you spray it off, there is still a chance some dirt might be left in the brush still.

Our car wash in Stockbridge used to get trashed when some local yokel through big parties in his teens! (I wonder who that was ??? ) Now they don't let anyone wash muddy trucks in there. They used to have to have the pits cleaned every Monday after my, or rather, this old hellion's bogs. I've always had my own power washer so I never used it but they used to trash it. Definitely pay it forward and clean up after yourself.

I agree, me and the wife took the car to the car wash in mason 2 days ago and there are 4 bays. I looked at my wife and said thats bullsh@@. she ask what the problem was and i pointed to it and she said the same thing i did. There was mud every where and the drain was just about plugged and about 4-6 inches of mud on the floor. But thats not the worst part. At the far east end of the wash bays is an outside wash that has one wall and it holds the machine for the money and the high pressure wash gun and it is there just for muddy vehicles and had not even been used.

people around here do the same thing, except its not muddy trucks, its some highschool kids that get off taking there little ricer hondas out in a nature preserve we have, its really a sad thing, i used to work there, and it sucks when people would do this. even worse when they want to run it though the automatic, that has brushes. i was sad to take my g8 though the car wash last night cause some kids muyst of been out having run easter.

RIP_K52007

i went to wash the dust off the dodge the other day down in millington, that car wash, i wanted to take a pic, but my phone wasnt on me..   they had a sign that said "mudboggers this bay" with a arrow.  LOL

i hear ya, nothin like getting ur car dirtyer at the car wash,  im guilty of driving a rusty truck threw the auto wash, until i relized my rust is probably getting on the brushes and scratching up other cars, so i quit doing that.

bmwallace_88

yeah, i tend to stay away from automatics with brushes anymore, they might work a little better than touchless, but its not worth it if the brushes have sand, dirt, and other grime in them.

i like my g8 to much to take it through a brushed automatic.

I usually only hand wash, but will take it to the car wash bay for a pressure wash when pressed for time.  I have MUCH better products at home the the carwashes have  8)

It only takes one or two trucks to clog the drain up.  Not really a good idea.  Should really get the majority of the thick stuff off before you take it to the car wash.

Good post.  I would hate to be the owner of some car washes I have seen.
