yes, it's a 5.3. the plans are to bore it out to a 5.7. or maybe leave it stock, depends on the cash flow.

computer is already taken care of. custum tune to eliminate the vats, egr, o2 sensors and a few others for the price of $300 from nelson performance in texas. building my own wiring harness to save $400, uhm.....fun. LOL
i grew up with FI unlike most of you carb guys, so i'm going with what i know how to work on.

oh, and did i mention 6 bolt main? ==dj ==dj ==dj

4 top bolts and 2 on the side

mudseeker

right now i have a sm465 out of the last failed project, but i'm leaning toward a nv4500.
if that doesn't work out, maybe the 6spd t-56 with a divoriced tcase.
all depends on funds and what i find first.

wow, seems i need to update this thread since so much has changed.
the 5.3 (325ci) just got dropped off at Reichert engine in owosso to be bored out to a 5.7 (350ci)

here are the plans to make a third gen chevy 383:
a forged 4inch stroke crank from K1
forged 6.125 inch K1 H beam rods
forged aluminum -12cc wiseco pistons
comp cams xr265hr-14~ .522/.529 212/218 at 50% duration
comp cromoly pushrods
comp valve springs
GMPP roller lifters
ARP bolts

much more i will list as i build.

on to the pics, cause we all know everyone loves pics.

you shouyld put some heads of a new 6.2. they have rectangular ports, instead of the cathedral port heads. flow way better. and they are cheap!!

taken from http://alturl.com/2ggh :

The L92 aluminum cylinder heads were the big enablers of the engine's admirable dyno results. They're the same heads used currently on the 6.2-liter-powered Cadillac Escalade and GMC Yukon Denali, but they are similar to the heads used on the Corvette Z06's LS7 engine. The have huge runners, 2.165-inch/1.600-inch valves, and flow a whopping 310-320 cfm on the intake side at 0.600-inch lift on the top end. They list for $399 apiece-pretty cheap for such a high-flowing aluminum head, in our opinion.

http://www.fbparts.com/ls_general_charts.htm#LS Heads : they are the ls3 heads and the specs

hope this helps!!
