School me on winch extension cables

The cable on my winch got damaged a couple years ago,so I cut off the bad part and reinstalled the hook. I only have about 30' left. I've seen extension cables online,but not how to connect them.Winch hook inside of the thimble,then at the other end a D-ring to connect to a tree saver?

i would think it would be just better to get a new cable but thats my opinion

Well,I guess it should be easy for me to go to C&M.They are at 3347 Bristol and I work at 3178 Bristol.
