Just wondering if anyone knows if you can still camp in that area, when I was a kid we used to cross the jonesville bridge, coming from the south, we would cross and follow the river back southwest till the end of the big scramble area and set up there. I want to take my son there and let him have the fun that I used to have. Any info on this area would be greatly appreciated by me and my little guy!! ==thanks

Its all state land I assume thru there, so I would think you could camp there, but dont wanna get in trouble! I will keep looking into it and post any info I find.

Family has a cottage in Leota. Not to far from the trail head. There are guys who take campers up there and camp in the parking lot but I do not think it is legal. There is a camp ground some where im just I am not to sure where. I will ask my dad tonight he might know he is out there more than I am.

So I can go across the bridge and camp, just not in the parking lot? Just wanna  get all my facts straight before I decide to go camping there. I was thinking about just cruising up there and checking it out and talk to some locals to get some info also. Thanks for all the info so far!! Keep it coming!

there is a motel not to far from the trail head and you can talk to the local across the street at the gas station / pizza joint / party store.

i think you can get a permit from the dnr to camp on the state land. theres always people camping during deer season, and when i ride from our place to jonesville br. they are always camping out there. we need to rip up those trails mudneck, im up there quite a bit to ride and hunt.

sounds sweet have to see when dad is opening the cabin for the year and now being able to ride the quad to the trail head instead of trailering them there will make it easyier

you can camp on state land as long as its not posted otherwise     also if you have a county map book for the names of the roads you can drive right to the area your talking about off of Jonesville rd.

my parents have a cabin 10minutes from the trailhead there, sounds like a lot of you know the area, I used to ride my dirtbike there all the time before I sold it, now just the sled..... theres a place on the Muskegon River back there that I would always see people camp at

the bridge is only wide enough for atv get across. but you can get to the other side by going up to the leota mall and drive past it and across the river then stay to the right and a distance back in there to that side of bridge. camping should be allowed at that area but you should get one if those DNR camping permits. they are free but have to be filled out and posted at campcite.
