seriously....pretty sure congress is controlled by democrats, and they have been in control since 06.  hmmm maybe you should look at data before you make off the wall comments.

but in any case, I am pretty sure that businesses being profitable, (large or small) is what makes them able to hire people.  and the north american free trade agreement was put in place by a democrat.  (that was the agreement that tooke jobs out of the country).  and pretty sure also if government spending continues at this rate, it wont matter if you are working because you wont take home any money.

I have a tendency to vote Republican and I'm laid off.  I'm also about to lose my unemployment benefits yet I support the Republicans efforts to block the unemployment bill.  Why?  The Republicans will not allow the bill to pass unless the bill can be supported without borrowing money for it.  The funds are available so all the Dems need to do is propose a stand alone bill and the Republicans will allow it to pass.  This country needs to learn fiscal responsibility.

The  republicans allow big biz (their chief supporters) to abuse NAFTA and send our jobs out of the country. The Democrats have been fighting for our jobs and the little guy like you and me. Now there's this wake up call to everyone to bring American jobs back to manufaturing like the UAW (who support the Dems and you and me) has been saying for decades. Toyota no longer has republican protection and the truth has been revealed there too. What needs to be done is a massive repeal of all the tax breaks foreign car manufacturers get when they bring their govt. subsidized cars here. Then the true cost of buying non union made foreign cars will be passed back on their manufacturers and not on the little guys.
Incidently, for every dollar paid out in unemp. ins. equals $1.61 in trickle down economics. A no brainer.

I think my biggest fear is how the republican loyalty to "the party" supercedes their loyalty to America. Obama has made some fantastic gains for us in the now new "world economics". He is making big biz and banks accountable for their abuse. The protection umbrella has moved over the American people. Back to where it belongs. The repooplickin (sorry) repub's now have the "just say no" mentality and offer no real alternatives, until that is, they get back in office. So now YOU have lost your representation. Not that they ever had your best interests in mind. a=f a=f a=f a=f a=f a=f a=f a=f a=f a=f a=f a=f a=f a=f

saying any party has all the answers is ignorant.  Which is why i stated the need for facts, not off the wall comments.  Obama hasn't done p00 other than hand out money. and i'm a strong believer that I control my future, not some schmuck in washington. but hey thats just me, if you are waiting for someone else to solve all your problems good luck!

Sorry to hear that , bro. What plant?

I agree that no single party has all of the answers, I'm just for the guys who are for me. At least THE PRESIDENT is giving out money mostly to the people. Remember, that when someone mentions "taxpayers" they are talking about the shrinking middleclass. The poor have no income to be taxed, BUT the rich simply avoid it. We need a third party comprised of people who want to do all of these things that we agree on, immigration, 2nd ammendmant rights,  deficit spending issues, taxes.....the repub's and their pee party cohorts just love fooling the middleclass into believing that they will change things. The Christian right (of which I was once among) still can't see that the repubs never had any intent on changing the abortion laws. I guess it's come down to the fact that I'm gonna vote for the party that lies to me less!

I'm done for now, glad that there's an extension on unemp. bennies, applaudd  but sad that plants will still close. ==pissed

The plant is building out, the 4 speed transmission we build components for is 30 years old and getting phased out by the 6 speed.  I am currently in one of the 3 remaining facilities at GM Powertrain Flint North.  (What's left of Buick City)  The UAW local here got new work at powertrain flint south, where they are going to build the engine for the Chevy cruze and the generator for the chevy volt.  The six speed is going to be assembled in warren just like the 4 speed is currently.  I just landed myself a permanent job with a non automotive company, but i will tell you, domestic auto makers are bringing more work back to the US than they have had here in a while.
