Do you need any special paper or permits to by a crossbow? also i was told that with a crossbow i can hunt from  Oct. 1st - Nov. 14th and Dec. 1st - Jan. 1st.  is that also true? another question is how likely is it that the band (string) will snap on a crossbow while cocking it back?

you can use a crossbow thru any deer season. during gun season you have to follow firearm rules, like wearing orange
when you purchase your deer license tell the counterperson you need a free crossbow license with it. thats all u need

Maintain the band "string" as you would a bow string and you should be fine.

Yea, they upped it this year though.. I think it's like 350 fps

I was surprised at the price of these things. I went to gander mountian to check them out and they were anywhere from 600 to 1400. That's crazy. You could buy a nice rifle and a shot gun for that

eastman x force 300 is $299 plus tax i seen a used one at eds archery the other day for $209

i was int he local sport shop this morning again and was still surprised to see the prices of this thing  ya they had cheap ones but the mid range was still $600

i picked up my barnett for around $450, i think.

i got my barnett for 450, its got 150lb draw wht, shoots 320fps, love it, just keep those strings waxed. oh i got mine at dicks
