where can i go to get a good hook that will attach to a toe strap? ive already got a D ring with the reciever shackle, now i just gotta get a hook for the other end of the toe strap but everywhere i go the part where the toe strap would go on and the pin goes through it is to small for the strap to fit through. any answers will help thanks

You should not use a "Hook" for recovery.. dangerous and deadly.

a (screw type) clevis is what you need and can be found at TSC.

look here, first post is what you need.. they come in various sizes.  http://wegotmud.com/forum/index.php?topic=14715.0

dont atahe tow hook to strap it could come undun and kill soem one, always hook it up wiht aht least 3/4in screw shakel or rapit around its self

Not too sure what yer asking, but attaching things to straps is a bad idea.  Attach a reciever front and rear of truck and use shackles on a shackle block or a hitch and put it where the ball would normally go.

Don't sweat the fact that your new to this..  ==np
glad to see your being smart about it and askin ???

now..
1st things 1st..
"Tow straps" are a no-no.. they are for towing, typically do not stretch.. and have hooks on the ends, don't use them for recovery.
a "Recovery strap" will stretch like a rubber band.. it uses that stored energy to help move the stuck vehicle, are generally rated higher (read:stronger) than a tow strap and have loops sewn into the ends (a quality strap will have leather wrap to help protect the loops from fray and damage)
there is a difference..

your reciever setup.. good choice.. the D ring also called a clevis (which is the part that unscrews on this setup) is attached to the "Loop" on a "Recovery strap" and assuming your strap is in good conditon and rated for your rig.. will not release/fall off/slip/slide or generally "let go" of the rig being recovered or the recovery rig (this is the deadly part) and NEVER.. EVER.. hook two straps together with a clevis... people die!.. I know this from personal experience.  Most of us that wheel carry at least 1 clevis, so if you show up w/ the strap and the reciever setup.. we just attach our clevis to your strap, hook it to our "Pull point" and wal-la.. a recovery party in progress.

Ok I must have a recovery strap cuz it didn't come with hooks and I'm pretty sure its rated for 50,000pds. And I ain't got buddies with trucks so I try to meet as many people as possible

Nah, the other end is someone else's responsibility.
although clevis's aren't that expensive.

x2 plus if you have a spare clevis, and don't like/trust what the other person has at the other end you can tell them that they have to use yours or they can just stay where they are....
