no power to lap top

i have a acer laptop and it wont turn on it doesnt even show anything even a power light even when plugged in  i was told mother board but i have my doubts due to the fact it has no power showing at all

is it possible that the battery is completely dead and there is a problem with the charger or the plug where the charger plugs into the lap top so it is not charging the battery? can you check to see if there is any power in the battery?  this is just a suggestion.

the compaq here does that and its where the charger plugs into the laptop at, gotta wiggle it around to get a connection then shuve the extra remote for the tv under it to keep it connected...

take a voltage meter n see if you are getting anything out of the charger before you go blaming its mother.
