dana 60 vs. dana 44

i was thinking at first i might do a dana 44 but if i can find a 60 cheap thought maybe use that is it worth the money? and how much do they usually run? parts easier to find than 77 dana 44 hd??

Well it all really depends on what tires you are planning on runing and weight. A 60 what be a good investment i think, always better to be stronger than what u need than weaker.
As far as what they run i dunno. Best to check the for sale section or maybe craigslist to get an idea.

they all will break eventually lol   gotta be in the right place at the right time i guess  4x4 fun sam and i went all the way to ohio to get a set 3 days later found a set on ebay 30 minutes away from home went for 350 bucks 14 ff /60 srw   anything heavyier then a jeep id go 60 jmo

i think with the kind of hp ur plannin on runnin and just 35s a d44 will be plenty fine. ur not building a 500hp rig on 44s

well i was too lazy to get parts for the HP i was going to originally run so i got a complete axle buts a low pinion 44 h5 from a 77 f250 if i can find a dana 44 hp cheap with 4.10 ill get that and keep this one for a backup just in case yea il be running 37s im pretty sure

with 35's as long as you keep up on the maintanance with the 44 you'll be fine, just keep a close eye on the u-joints in that axle, that's where all our problems always came from

i run a 44  on 39.5 and haven't had a promblem. But i don't drive like an a$$

I broke shafts on my 10bolt and 39.5s and I babied it.

All depends really. I broke shafts every time I went out on a 44 hp with 44in hawgs. My buddy has run 2 years on a 44hp with 44 hawgs and has yet to break anything but a u joint. He also has more power then I did with a ford racing crate engine. Both were short box regular cab f150's. I am going to attempt a 44hp again with this current truck I am building and I am going to run 44in gumbos cut like tsl's. I'm gonna go with chromoly axles from jeffs bronco grave yard. I've only got a 302 thats gonna be pushing them so hopefully I'll be good.

street truck thats played with sometimes but not a all out bogger the 44 should be fine..I have ran a few trucks with 44s or 10 bolts with 35s-44s  only broke a few just drive smart and you will be fine its a street truck so you gotta drive it home right?
