WHEN IN DOUBT THROTTLE OUT

sure, axle tubes are removable.either replace the axle tubes with one from a front or cut the ends off and replace them with knuckles. matching the length and size on the axle shafts would be the hardest part. a 14 bolt full floater front would be awesome if you found front axle shafts that matched the 14b spider gears it wouldnt be hard at all.

i also thought about building a 9 inch front just because of the gear selection, they go all the way up into the 7.20s ! and only run about 100 bucks for a gear set

old school truck dude

This has been done alot already, especially with 14bolts. They just change the tubes and shorten the axles and add the rest of the junk.. There are some kits somewhere for most of it..  ;D

355REDNECK

does anybody now somebody that can do it

Machine shop. Look on some of the 4x4 magazine sites, theyre doin this mod on one of them. Lot of machine work, this is an expensive mod..

355REDNECK

so u can do this with any rear end like a dana 60

damn_ford

why bother with a 60 when you can do a 14bolt.

magic

that 4x4 off road show has a complete vid on how to do it

355REDNECK

would the 14 bolt be strong as a dana 60 front end
WHEN IN DOUBT THROTTLE OUT

Blazin40s

It would b stronger then a D60 by far....don't bother doing with a D60 it would b cheaper to buy a real steer d60.

Seen that and it was bad ass...I would love to be able to tell someone my truck has a 14bolt front and rear ==roll

When they say no such thing as a 14bolt front tell them to look under your truck and tell you what it is ==roll

RIP_K52007

i wana gm 7.5 front for my s10 hahaha gotta keep them matchin ;)

Kyle

i would do a 14 bolt front.... but i just dont have the time or the funds that it would take to build one....
92 chevy stepside - built 408 sbc/modified 700r4/14 bolt ff/dana 60/4.56s/38.5s/western 7.5' plow

Wild One

Been there, done that.
I run a 9" with 10 bolt shafts (28 spline) in the front of mine.
I would not reccomend this combo to someone with a regular truck set-up and anything bigger than 40's (because of shafts)

Do a 14 bolt, do pics, post in projects !!!!!!!!!!!

MR NASTY

Don't quote me but I thought I heard that's what 02 chevy has in the front of his. I've never asked him so I'm not positive.

Why not a 70 or an 80?
By the way i'm looking at taking a 5ton rear and making it a sterring axle and i belive that  a couple of my friends will be doing the same to some rockwell 106's

MR NASTY

The reason the 14 bolt is desired is the fact it has a pinion brace making it superior to dana axles. They make 5 ton steers already why not use one. When the do the 14 bolt conv. they custom order the axle shafts to fit. I couldn't imagine what a set of five ton shafts would cost. I'd like to use the housing curie offers that uses 9" parts myself. Has to be way lighter.

Bigger shafts, replaceable king pins, stronger knukels, heavyer ends, same lenght shafts. gearhart does 2 9/16" steering shafts with 50 spine ends and spool for $3600.
On the 14 bolt shafts, all they are is a re spline dana 60 shaft.
