i have a 1984 chevy k10 with all power everything windows locks and it has cruise control. then all the sudden today i went to push the button doing about 45 and it would not engage so i was like huh i turned the cruse to the off position and then back on and again nothing. the i decided to pull over and shut the truck off and see if that did the trick... nope. i havent had time to check it out yet so i was wondering what all it could be and a little info on how to diagnose whats causing it not too work. i know it is an 84 and some people will say who needs it on that old of a truck i dont want those comments, i liked the cruise working it was convienint if it helps the control that cruise is on which is turn signals and wipers and everytything is cracked by the mist lever. i didnt know if it cut the wire and shorted it or what.

any helps greatly appeciated thanks guys

probly a small vaccum leak, the cruise runs on vaccum might have been a hose fell off or somthing stupid happends all the time

or blew the fuse... or check your brake lights, if those quit working you could have a bad brake switch which would make the cruise not engage...

If you have the turn signal switch that has all the stuff on it, that one has some real small wires in it that could be broke. Also, if its tilt, could maybe need the bowl tightened up, gotta pull the steering wheel and more and get down to the bottom of all that junk and tighten it all up.. ;D

KORNBREAD

Yeah its usually the wires inside pulling apart from years of on/off switching.

I don't know how yours is set up, but with my 84 Caprice the speed sensor died and my cruise control stopped working, replaced the sensor and it worked fine...

i had a car that did that to me, ended up being the switch on the break pedal poped out so it was tripped all the time, check and make sure the switch is still in place
