So i just blew my 60 apart today... the carrier is toast as with missing spiders and the ring and pinion is also junk.
My question is can u take a rear carrier from a 60 and use it in the front axel?

as long as the spider gears are the same spline

d60 fronts have 35 spline for the axles

if the back has the same spline it will work.

if not change the spider gears, if you can

So as long as the splines match up it can be done???
Do i need to use a reverse rotation ring and pinion as well?

reverse rotation is for ford or after market houseing.

So if i put the rear carrier in my.front end i don't need a reverse rotation ring gear?
the rear carrier that i m going to get is out of a ford... and its going into a dodge 60.

all the cases are the same.    just spline counts different  rear 60 is 31 spline front 60 is 35 spline

well i am on my way to getting the truck back up and running. It is still going to be a couple of weeks due to money, but i just ordered a dana super 60 carrier with a trac loc posi unit in it from e bay... now just need to get the ring and pinion and then off to the axel guy for set up. It is still going to be a couple of weeks cause i got to save the $ for the rest of the parts, but i just wanted to update Y'all.

why do you have to take it to axel guy? set it up your self.  what gears do you have, or need?

well i have never set an axel up before, i know the general idea  behind it but its not to bad of a price to have it done. This way it is done right and i do not have to worry about it.
