used to go up north with my dad n uncle to a damn they used to catch bunches of them can you still snag them ?

The Sucker run was terrible this year. The times I actually went out when it wasnt raining we only caught one or two per trip. Hardly worth the bother. The Rifle River in Alger was just too damn high this year.

Suckers are best smoked. Cut the heads off, gut them, clean the mudvein out of them, then soak em in salt brine for about 12 hours. Then slow smoke them for about 8-10 hours using a sweet hardwood (I use a mix of maple, cherry, and apple wood myself). And Bon Apetit :)! Just be careful, sucker's got lotsa little bones.
