Anyone catch the episode yesterday, he swapped a solid axle in a 90 something blazer and yesterday he gets a reman short block 350 and a Edelbrock kit that comes with cam, heads and intake for a TBI, then he goes on to claim Edelbrock says that motor will make 400hp and 400ft pounds of torque

I would love to see that on a dyno using his 450cfm TBI that he put back on the motor and stock fuel pump let alone his stock chip. I am emailing them and told him I want to see dyno numbers to back up Edelbrocks Bull claim.

I built a 350 and had a more aggressive cam than that kit, ported, polished heads that was decked and 670cfm tbi with a custom tuned chip and I would put the horsepower between 300 and 350 but no where near 400. Wonder if he knows that the edelbrock manifold tbi bores are only 42mm and the 670cfm bore is 2"/ 50.8mm and he will need to hog it out to take advantage of the 670tbi.

Oh well I am done with TBI and I am not going to teach him what I learned the hard way...now I am into smpfi

my dad told me bout that episode.... hard to beleive they did it that way.... they claimed that it would cost 1300 bucks to freshen up the bottom end too!!! so they just bought all new for 1500.... that whole motor was like 4k i guess....

You can get 400hp out of a TBI motor with that kit but you need the 500 dollar Holley TBI unit for it as well as the Chip. But your also at the about the make of the fuel system. 
I have a buddy from High School that put that set up in a Camaro and it was close to 420 HP that they got out of it on the Dyno. But it had the better TBI unit and the Chip.


As for Jessie Combs
She hurt he back during a taping of the show on Spike and could no longer do alot of the stuff on there.  So she left it and then did the stuff on Mythbusters for a wile.

You can get 400hp out of a TBI motor with that kit but you need the 500 dollar Holley TBI unit for it as well as the Chip.

The $500 TBI unit is a 670cfm tbi also known as a 454tbi, they are the exact same thing and both flow 670cfm. But you are not going to get any advantage in using it with the stock or even the edelbrock manifold because they both have 42// bores, you need to hog them out in order to use and take advantage of the 670cfm tbi.

A lot of people don't do it and just use a 454tbi spacer so the butterfly's on the 670cfm tbi wont catch on the smaller bores of a 350tbi manifold but then you are not taking advantage of the 670cfm tbi so with the spacer and 454tbi you are still only going to flow as much as 42mm holes will allow and that is 450cfm and that is not enough flow to support 400hp.

This is the whole point I was trying to make, the guy on Extream4x4 says Edelbrock says this package will make 400hp and make it look like it is a bolt on a go package, it is far from that, you need the bigger tbi, you need bigger injectors, you need a better fuel pump, you need to machine the manifold, you need a custom burned chip and with the cam in that package it still will not make 400hp, maybe 325 at best.
