i couldnt find my older post so i started a new one  lol    ive got my pump valve and  stuff mounted but still having clearence issues on the cylinder  size so what my question is   has anyone used an  assist cylinder off of a semi or other big truck ???  i measured one that is on  a box truck that we have at the farm  and it will fit perfect on my axle  was just wonderin about the shaft diameter  being only 5/8 or soin diameter   the pump on the truck should be  a higher flow/pressure also im thinkin ==wgm ==hmmm ==hmmm ==hmmm

5/8" should work... pump should have enough pressure to run it

youre gonna have a real high system pressure, if you'll even be able to steer without strong arming it... will probably be 1 1/2 turns lock to lock... bigger cylinder = lower pressures, more force, less pump/belt wear, longer system life

im not saying it wont work, cuz it will... i always tell people to run the largest cylinder they can fit on a bogger.

i dunno  so i ask  fellow GotMud?ers  if the smaller cylinder restrists ?  flow  thus in creasing pressure wouldnt the reaction in yhe cylinder/steering be faster??   the original steereing box with a 20 inch steering wheel it  took 3 full turns to move the drag link 3 1/2 inch  the bigger diameter cylinders at  tsc wont fit on my axle  without making  a bracket to bolt to the pinion and housing and a bunch of weird angles    im gunna make this one work and if it dosent ill at least  know what wont work  lol i could go back to the  demo car days with one front driver side brake and lots of throttle to steer  ++peace applaudd applaudd applaudd

forfun

it will work just fine .put a tranny cooler in the return line, smaller dia cyl less turns lock to lock less push pull power, for what your doing don't go smaller than 1.5 dia cyl,and cyl travel not to long ==wgm
