#61
did some work on the ranger while i was home over the weekend
starting to get the 60 put back together with new u joints and bearings  got the gas pedal mounted and a throttle cable made  re did the rear suspension a little bit with longer shackles and moved it back an inch  ended up with about 10 inches of travel in the rear

i ran the truck for a while and got it to idle pretty good but i tried timing the motor and the timing marks on the harmonic balancer are really far from the timing pointer even tho the motor is running great

I know how that goes! With three kids, work ,and all the other stuff going on. It's hard to find time for the ranger.

im not sure why the timing mark is so far off  i got the firing order right and the distributer stabed at TDC  i marked the 0 degree mark on the balancer then put the timing light on cylinder number 1 and shoot the light at the harmonic balancer and look for the mark and its probably 45 degrees from the little timing pointer

Eroq

sounds like its running retarded... try advancing it a bit more...    firing too late it sounds.

ill try that next time im home  im not the best at just timing it by ear  i can get it to fire and run good  it will fire with out touching the throttle and just a bump of the starter

some guy told me i need to put on collectors my pipes and thats why its running weird
i planned on collectors and header mufflers soon but i wanted to hear it run while i was home lol

BAD APPLE

Yeah I don't think a collector is going t help
no rest for the wicked

came home last weekend to work on some stuff, got the 4x4 shifter all set up, made a new trans cross member to give me better drive line angles and tuck my t case, i made flex hose mounts and my buddy ran all the rear brake lines for me, worked on my floor shifter but lost one little piece so i got to find that and it will be done lol, got the trans cooler and lines all ran.  made good progress but still got some work ahead if i want to make it to TGW and i wont be back home til next thursday

Nice work man. Im pretty much on the same schedule.... I'll only make it to tgw if I pull a few all nighters after finals week.... But I'm praying that all goes smoothly and I'll be there with my truck.

Good luck and keep up the good work

i had planed on using 5/8 grade 8 bolts to bolt the rod ends to the pitman arm and to the high steer arm   the high steer arm is set for double sheer but the pitman arm is not
does any one know if the 5/8 bolt will be strong enough or should i buy a heim that uses a 3/4 bolt?
