I am at a point where I am trying to replace all of the axle joints and spindle bearings. My question is, do you need to completely remove the steering knuckle to get the axle shafts out? Thanks for the help.

I've got it tore down to the point of pulling the shaft out and it seems to bind in the steering knuckle...hmm...

Driver side came out good and passenger side was real tight. Eventually came out. Definitely no c clips. Thanks for the info guys. Pulling u-joints out now and gonna have to replace pinion bearings too. Got carrier out. Oh let the fun begin!
