Tranny T-case Help

I am looking for the best transmission - transfer case combination for my set up. I run in competition bogs in my area that range from 100 to 115ft and 2 to 3.5 ft deep. The truck will be under the knife this winter so I am preparing for the rebuild.
Current Setup:
'79 K10 short bed
Gutted bed, cab, front clip
358ci chevy sb 10.5-1 comp.
sm465 with np205
Dana 44 front and 14 Bolt with 4:10s
39in or 38in boggers

Now I am currently building 408 chevy with 13.0-1 comp, 215cc (2.05-1.60) dart platinum series heads, scat rods, valley and main girdle, full roller assembly, etc. It 'll put me around +-600hp and 600+ tq. So I am dropping quite the coin and don't want to be trying to grab gears. Now hears the question, I have a th350 that I can have rebuilt to my standards and what t-case should follow np205 or 203. Help is appreciated.

forget the 203, they suck, i have one, the 205 is really strong, but another option you should concider is teh np208, it has way better low range

The problem with a 208 is its chain driven and it requires a slip yoke. I have seen a few break in stock powered rigs.

I say  np 241. I run one in my 500 hp truck with 44s and beat the crap out of it works great!

350/205. build the trans strong, and that gear to gear 205 prolly wont break. my 205 has held up, i just break axles now loll

and you can get a Slip Yoke Eliminator for the 208/241 i think

if the motor makes enough power 205 will do you want wheel speed as long as the moter will alow it

NP205 is about as good as they get without getting into big $'s. I've put well over 500 ponies, and 750lbs torque through em' without so much as a hiccup.

Quite honestly...................whats wrong with the SM465 Np205 you already have?????................that stick trans is a hell of alot stronger than any auto trans you could put behind that motor of yours............and you already got the strongest T-case.


The 205 might have a shittty low range  of 1.96.............but your 6.54 1st gear will more than make up for that.

comp bogger=fast. stick cant shift as fast as an auto, auto wont miss shifts either...

True..........but there is such a thing as SPEED SHIFTING.........although the SM465 is not close ratio........lol

another thing we all missed is that if he wants to use teh 205 he has he's gonna need a th400 not a 350, or he'll have to geat another 205
