does any one know anything about the old quad racers?

i got a 87 lt 250r that when you start it up it revs really high and it wont idle down. we adjusted carb and all the idleing jet. but the 87s got the power vavle could the power vavle be bad?
got mud?

its not the power vavle i just took it apart. what else can it be?

It very well may be sucking air in through a crank seal....I've experienced that first hand on my 88 LT250R. Had to split the case all the way down and put all new crank and case seals in. I can almost guarantee that you have the same issue. It is scary if it happens when you are riding. The bike will go wide open until you shut it down. Be ready to upshift while applying the brakes ,until it stalls out. Or have a good kill switch system.

had one that did that it was the crank seal  it took out the rod bearing

we are taring it down this weekend thats one thing we will check thank to all.

could be leaking at carb boot or under jug near intake ...also

Spray ..." A little shot"  of starting fluid around jug and boot and see if it revs up again....be prepaid to dump the clutch to bog it back down however ...otherwise it could really rev up " alot"

here ya go this is the best way to check a 2 stroke motor here is a link on how to do and make a leak down tester for small motors for 20 dollars this will tell you where and what is leaking chaseing a leak just useing spray and waite for the r's to go up can give falce readings sometimes when you spray if just a small amount in a cloud of starting fluid drift by the mouth of the carb may have you chaseing a leak in the wrong spot  ==doh

Check your Reed between Carb and cylinder most likely r worn and letting a little much gas into cylinder, ,,,buy new reeds or Reed cage and all

Hey i have a quad racer. If you want a parts quad its 150$ you can find it in the shop and swap its under QUADZILLA!!! when I posted it that's what I thought it was lol.
