i have an 88 f250 with the 5.0 efi engine. i wasnt gettin power to either fuel pump (the rear tank is missing so i just have one low pressure fuel pump in the side tank and the high pressure in-line pump) i know both fuel pumps are good. after a few days of tryin to figure it out and getting no where i decided to just hook the pumps up to a toggle switch. well both pumps kick on and the truck still will not start.  ??? it is getting spark also, checked the plugs goin to the injectors with just a test light and there is power goin to them. not shure how much tho. i do have pressure at the fuel rail. i know theres enough gas in the tank becuse i had the tank out and now its just sittin on jack stands with everything hooked up except the filler hose. anybody have any ideas?

Fuel filter..? Timing chain broke? Have you had the dist cap off to see if the rotor turns? Did you stick an old plug in a plug wire and ground it real good and crank it to see if it has spark? I think this has somethin to do with the wiring, this one I have here has the same problem and the previous owner just bypassed all the wiring and put it on toggles and a pushbutton.

it is rolling over kinda fast.... i just drove it home one day. parked it. took the battery out to use in my other truck. put it back in, and it started fine, pulled outta the driveway and went about an 1/8th of a mile and it stopped running. it wants to run if im sprayin gas in the throttle body... there just isnt any power goin to either pump so i just wired them up to the battery with a toggle switch and they both are coming on. the truck just wont start

Could be that it isnt gettin 12volts to the coil during cranking?

On the bronco site (that we always stay ahead of because wegotmud.com is #1) they are suggesting that its the ECU and they also say that everyone says it never goes bad, but THEY say it actually DOES go bad. The link above will take you to a set of instructions to read your codes and test a couple things. Dont get frustrated and try to bypass it with toggle switches and the like, it wont work the way you want it to, and it will be dangerous that way. Alot of folks dont realize it but most electric fuel pumps are wired through the oil pressure switch: No oil pressure, pump shuts off after a 2-3 second delay. To bring fuel up the line, you must cycle the key quite a few times off and on. Go here and just start surfing, see if any of those sound like yours:

I got one settin here that has already had the wiring bypassed and it DID NOT WORK. Just so ya know.

found a wire broke off that goes to the ground cable running to the battery. fixed it and it started right up... makes sense cuz it stopped running when i pulled the battery out and put it back in

Wow. That might be the problem with this one, who knows. I wish they wouldnt have tried to bypass the wiring, it would be alot easier to troubleshoot  ;D

How many miles and have you checked injectors if they are dirty or old they may not be spraying Into engine. That was my issue on my 1990.
