87 chevy p/u, 350 motor, carbed, starts good, runs good, until ya put it under load. park and neutral rev up good, then ya put it in gear, and it dies. put new carb on it, thought it had a vacumn leak because it didnt have the correct carb adapter plate, got the right one, still doin it...

i checked. still doin it. and i forgot to mention that it coughs back thru the carb when it stalls, thats how i know it was leaking before.

no leaks i could find around the intake. not sure on the timing. had a thought it was a tooth off, gotta get a timing light to be sure

ok i checked the timing, was way off, tried to move it closer, it would stall. figured out that it was still a tooth off, fixed that... now it chugs like it isnt getting gas... so ill put a guage on it in a bit

whatcha mean? i brought it to TDC on the balancer, pulled the distributor, put it back in so it faced the #1 cylinder. and the wires on the cap are in the right spots

Did you check the time chain to see if it stretched ?    Chain might worn out throwing the timing off  ?

havent checked it. when i turn the pulleys it turns without hesitation... when the rotor pointed to the front of the motor at TDC, i could rev it up in park, but it would stall under load. when i put it towards the the number 1 it chugs and it acts like its not getting fuel, and will barely run. i put a guage on it, it fluctuates from 7-10 psi...

my k5 did that when the ignition module was going bad... but the last time around i went threw 3 ignition modules before figuring out it had a bent valve.

well with bad ignition module it would run fine in park and run like junk going down the road... with the bent valve it wouldnt go over 3 grand in park and would barely move in gear.

yea it revs up great in park. just wont go into gear and stay running

could be it, duno, if you are gonna replace it make sure you put the electrical grease on it

swapped whole distributor. timed it at 8*, runs great!!

then it was probably either the dizy gear or the module
