Need to build a work truck 4x Contractors dump box with a knuckle boom crane mounted between Cab and dump box, need to fit a Quincy 60 gallon compressor Bobcat NT welder 4 300 Oxygen tanks, 1 100# Propane and a Large Acetylene tank, plus all my tools somewhere.

Company I sub contract with has several nice service trucks with all that and more but Feast to Famine is my pay rate so budget build is the plan, C60s are a dime a dozen in farming areas always rust free low millage grain haulers with a dump bed already to go BBC Clark 4 speed, 2 speed rears

So my project is 76 C60 2x striped to the frame rails have mounted front and rear spring hangers 56" eye to eye Super lift 10" lift rear springs in the front, shackle flipped 6" Super lift rear springs from a 98 1 ton Chevy 63" eye to eye in the rear

Axles have a D70r 4.88 gear locker D60f limited slip, Don't think the axles will take the abuse of 46" tires + all the weight of service body

Rockwell axles would be nice but 3 to 5 grand for a newer set disk/air lockers is out of my range, the older rocks are out there for reasonable but the question of brakes comes up how do you stop a truck that big heavy with old drum brakes that are to expensive for me to put parts into anyways

Cummins would be nice but the transmissions auto or stick are way out of my price range, you would think there would be an affordable 2x transmission of some sort but nothing I've come across

BBC 502 is the engine I have complete engine swap with a guy for a 350, wiring harnesses everything so I have to use it, Thought maybe a 2 speed rear for Hi way cruising and a matched front gear for low on the 2 speed rear, Option probably does not exist in reality but reality has never been my strong point anyways

Pics or it is a figment of ones imagination I know going to post some up next time I'm at the barn working on it just need to clean all the chicken poo off it first so you all can see what sort of Mad max contraption is coming together

Yes it is an odd thing to build anyone whom I dared mentioned it to giggled a bit before breaking out in hysterical laughter at said project so fire away I am no stranger to shame just looking for some input from those who dare such projects Trying to come in ahead of the learning curve on this project

Flat black put it nicely while laughing at said project. All the things you failed to get here and this is the best you can come up with? Humbling experience to say the least so yes it is fail on a large scale from a form vs function stand point, but one I can almost afford to build maybe

So this is my build sheet for now will snap pics this weekend of project if the chickens will share the barn long enough to dig it out for the winter build

x2    have u considered a napco axle for the front like what a line/bucket trucks use as far as the drum JMO but id find a set of 5 tons and run a auxillary trans  if ya can get a 4 speed ya would have 2 high and 2 low ranges

MUD KING

I would use 2.5 top loaders if it were me, How do you think they stopped the original military trucks, They have drum brakes that work great. The reason everyone debrakes them , is that they are to heavy for a bogger. They were made for highway speeds and parts are very easy to find.
Where's the BIG hole?

Started this project with a stripped C60 nothing but the frame, with a solid cab complete sitting on a pallet, so with 46" tires figured 10/12" spring lift would be fine right?  Not so much apparently they come stock with 9.20s dam near 40" tires so when I rolled it out of the barn on 44" to snap some pics we dropped the cab on to check ride height tire clearance, does not look right at all could have used stock K30 rear springs for the front and the longer K30 springs out of a newer one for the rear the tires would have had perfect clearance without any trouble at all

Thank's will do soon as I can get the barn cleaned up a bit so working on it is not such a hassle

The axles from an off road bucket truck were always on my mind the whole truck would be even better but they tend to be pricey, never came across one for parts, there is a heavy equipment salvage yard in St johns I will have to check out maybe get lucky n find a old Consumer power 4x4 line truck disk front ya never know what they might have

2.5 or 5 tons can be found reasonable enough just knowing the good from the bad ones is the problem

"run a auxillary trans if ya can get a 4 speed ya would have 2 high and 2 low ranges" Please tell me more about the auxiliary trans not sure if we are on the same page I thought those only came in class 8 trucks
