homemade recovery strap

I am a firefighter and I have some old fire hose. It's 1 3/4" firehose. I have been told it is great as a recovery strap, and I have seen it used in the past. I just wanted to get some more experienced boggers opinions on it. And also, as part of discarding the hose, we cut the coupling off the end. So what do you think the best way to make the loop on the end of it would be? Thank you.

U need the thicker one.  Seen the bigger one used b4....but it was a tractor pulling not a truck, so it was not being jerked on.

id just go buy a 6ince strap. better too be safe when it comes to something that has the potential to kill someone, in the chance it dosnt work. id never hook it too my truck.....just my two cents good luck

ive used it have a canvas shop sew them up, tell them what is for and they can use heavyduty stiching, ive had straps repaired many of times get one end fixed and the other goes lol but them hoses work great for smaller trucks like 5k and under

I have used a surgeons loop to put a loop on a broken strap as a tempordary fix. I would not use a firehose, it was never designed to be a strap. I recently bought a 6" Keeper strap on Ebay for less than $50 delivered to my house. You can't put a price on safty.

i use a 50 ft rope they used for putting in telephone poles with it is 2 inch round and 50 ft long and very elastic and works nice but its a pain in the arse to hall out in mud and sand  i used it alot at silver lake

had a budy that had one it broke and came at me and another guy i made it out the way he mad a one way trip to the hospital do not use it buy one it is safer trust me

Seen someone this year I think it was use like airplane rope or something. Bout 100 feet long and real stretchy. Myself  I'd use what's made for it. Love my 6x30.
