First off I am sorry if I posting this in the wrong spot but I wasn't exactly sure where to put it.

Does anyone have the rules for comp bogs?
I am looking for the rules regarding the comp trucks. Basically all the rules for all the classes. I am going to be doing a ton of upgrades to my truck this winter and I may consider doing some comps next year so I want to make sure all the stuff I do will be "legal" and meet safety requirements. I also need to know stuff like what will put me up into the next class etc. For example I have been bouncing back and forth about cutting my rear boggers. I run 18/39.5R15 boggers. If cutting them will move me from a 40" and smaller class to open class just because I have cut tires it wouldn't be worth cutting them to me then (I don't even know if that would be a real class but that is the kind of stuff I am trying to figure out so I can plan my build accordingly).

Thanks in advance for any info!

i think it changes a lil from bog to bog, and who's running it man

Yea I understand that but usually there is a somewhat generalized set of rules that determines who is in what class based on their truck.

Also I would imagine (but I am not sure) there would be rules like everyone must have an on-board fire extinguisher and other safety stuff like ignition and fuel pump kill switches etc...

I know things change from place to place but isn't there some sort of generalization of rules?

check with chevyracer, i think he knows more about comp stuff than i do

I do tech for Thumb Area Mud Runners comp bogs. Our rules are really simple. Check out WWW.thumbareamudrunners.com for the rules. Any other questions pm me. I'll also send you a link or 2 to more comp bog rules when I get home from work.

cut boggers means u will run with the big guys....

Yea that is what I figured. That sucks I was looking forward to removing 200lbs of rotating mass and getting better traction!

what did u plan on building. and where did u plan on running
WHEN IN DOUBT THROTTLE OUT

Its already built just improving it. Its a 95 s10 reg cab short box on a 78 k20 frame. 383 stroker turbo 350 dana 60 front 14 bolt rear 4.10s with 18/39.5R15

planning on doing some motor upgrades to get around 650hp triangulated 4 link front and rear with coils and hydro steering. if money allows i will also do gears prolly 5.38s

i was going to do coil overs and cut my boggers but not now that i see TAMRs rules. I will be running all the comp bogs I can since i just got a sponsorship

I was told if I 4-linked my truck I would have to run 44's and up

Jjay78

40" tires put you in mod 4. Get some smaller tires and you could be in mod 3.

Here is what TAMR's website says about suspension:

"Suspension must be comparable to stock type (lift kits okay). No adjustable coil-overs, unless factory equipped."

My question is would a 4-link and coils be ok? I would say it is similar to a radius arm/drag link coil setup (which is factory on older broncos and f150s, and others). I understand not having adjustable coil overs that would give you a huge advantage over everyone else but 4 links with regular coil springs wouldn't give you much of an advantage over the radius arm/drag link coil setup. A 4-link won't really show much advantage until you get into really long travel coil-overs/air shocks.

Somebody needs to clear this up. Maybe put something like, "For suspension anything goes as long as it is all OEM parts (link bars, springs, and shocks). Lift springs and shocks and/or additional shocks may be used. Custom brackets may be used. No coil-overs, air shocks, air bags, or 4-links."

I was told that 4-link is not stock

I agree with you 100%. But the rules don't suspension must be stock. They similar to stock... So there needs to be a line drawn to where similar ends.

Do you agree that the radius arm/drag link coil spring setup that the old Fords use is stock?
So what would be similar to that? I would say a 4 link with coils would be similar so that would make it legal?

Saying similar to stock suspension is a very very broad statement. If they don't allow custom link setups then that needs to be stated.

From what you are saying (along with others) I think I have an understanding what you can and cannot do. I think the rule is you have to have an OEM suspension setup bottom line, no custom stuff, with the exception of a lift kit.

The rule needs to be clarified. There are soooo many different things that you can do that the rule does not cover. I mean there are even companies that make lift kits that are for a 4 link and coils. Are traction bars legal? If so would using traction bars and a factory drag link with coil springs be legal?

What is similar to stock??????????
