were you getting sloppy in the teardown? i blow air thru the intake before removing, your water could of come from there? was the oil gray, or still seperate from the water?

you will not get that much water in the oil though the intake with the motor is running. if the motor goes under water not running you get alot of water in it.

If you have upright headers they condensate this time of year from warm and cooling and then it runs right down.  Just a thought

Was it water or antifreeze? Do you run straight water? it might help to boil it down to the culprit.

your intake gaskets ports match the sizes of your head and intake ports? bad head gasket? cracks?? or you go deep enough in hte water to get some in through your valve covers?

Never had water over the hood always had rain caps on headers.  I'm going to be taking oil pan off this weekend and checking for any visible cracks.
