what is a reilable carb or a good carb for a stock 350    seemily i keep having some issues w my carb so maybe it s time for me to get a new carb...

New stock quadrajet or new Edelbrock 600 cfm--1405 or 1406

I run an Edelbrock on my mild 355. Buying it new makes one hell of a difference.

Carbs are wearable parts, but as much as the Q-jet gets bashed a new one works great.

i rebuild the eldbrock all the time and they work good. just like new.

edelbrock 600 1405 or 1406 if you want electric choke, or a holley vaccume secondary

The thing about carbs is just cause its runnin good one one motor don't mean itll run good on another.  Gotta have them tuned in for a specific motor to work perfect.  And on holleys u gotta tune as weather changes.  Gotta get it tuned by someone who knows what there doin.  Even outta the box factory adjusted won't work right unless tuned in.

X2   gotta be tuned,   easy way is with a vacuum gauge,   google it,    attach vacuum gauge to an intake vacuum line, adjust til you have the highest vacuum reading possible at idle    then you can fine tune from there, changing power valves and whatnot on holleys

I'm no expert on this. But I went through this on my near stock Chevy 350 I had in my Jeep. I talked to a lot of people and the people with the most knowledge told me to stick top a 600 carb. Even after adding some more Horse power to the 350 the 600 was plenty big enough.
Good luck on whatever you do. Keep us updated on you decision.

edelbrock carbs are easy to tune. 3 screws you can either turn by hand or with a regualr flat screw driver. there is a screw on front of carb on bottom plate for left and right bank, i always tune mine like that and if i smell gas hard core out of my duals i know which side to turn down, or up. and the third screw, on the throttle linkage you against just to keep it at idle, when i first put the carb on my truck it kept stalling out, but when my dad shopwed me the 3rd screw, everything was a-ok. but i have a 600 on my 350 thats pushing around 420 horse and can go bigger, the carb was also on a 68 pontiac firebird 350 and it ran it just fine. also on a stock 350 in a 79 cheyenne. and it was beat up on every motor and it still work just fine for me.

but as for a holley i dont really know lol i dont like them, had 2 of them on mine and they couldnt keep the fuel in when i was on an angle with the damn bowls. but this website tells how to tune a holley, thougly lol.

Take some time to study this manual. Gives you the run-down on what the carburetor does and what you are trying to accomplish by tuning it.

This is for the 600cfm series Edelbrock carburetors. Same concept for any carb, though.
