anybodys know anything about these? the set im looking into have 6.17 gears and seem good. anything i should be majorly concerned with about them? like bad thing they were known for or something like that? they are out of an old military truck i believe, not for sure. oh and how hard are parts for them to get? like seals, brakes, bearings, and etc. etc. etc....thanks!

Boyce equipment carries all the rebuild parts, they're rated at 3 tons,  and you'll have to "flip" the front axle as it is a true reverse rotation. If you don't flip it, you'll need the military t-case (np200).  Look up www.swampdiesel.com   he did it and walks you through it with pics.
Once you remove the torque arms and mounts , they have close to the same clearence as a 14 bolt.  Oh yeah, like rockwells--heavy as in 650 lbs. a piece.  Cheaper than rocks, just as strong if not stronger (53" tires no problem), they just don't have the drivline angles like the toploaders do. I'm building a 6x6 with them.
