Who here has an interest to old chainsaws, I've got a 67 mcculloch mac 1010 57cc 20in bar and she runs! Also got a newer poulan with an 18" bar (told parents I wanted a saw for Christmas and that's what I ended up with) overall good saw for the price...well I spit the chain this summer n messed the chain up so I tossed it and was gonna go get a new one but tsc didn't have one so in the case it went and upto of the barn...tonight I was watchin some videos of muffler mods and figure what the hell why not so I opened the muffler up n knocked the baffle out n put it back together and also did an airbox mod my drilling holes in the airbox cover and the shroud that covers the plug carb n airbox, both mods woke her right up, throttle is crisp and sounds amazing.   great mods and im gonna have a custom skiptooth chains made for both

Used to have an old 4 stroke form the 50's.  Used it a few time till the piston went threw the cylinder wall.  Beat that thing could have broke an arm if it grad the wood right. It was damn powerful.

I want to make R/C from a Chainsaw motor but Just know I will never get around to it.

i had a old steel cased homelite saw, that thing was a tank, got ran over by a front end loader, ended up putting a new bar on it and using it lol. it'd chew threw wood like nothing.

Have had an old McColloch for the last 20 yrs.
paid $150 for it, 16" bar.. ran like a champ till early this year..
burned up the drive gear.. can't get parts yada yada...
found what I needed but been wrestlin with it for a couple weeks now..
got it runnin good Friday, ran thru a tank of gas.. shut it off,
gas was empty, oil was full..  .. now it won't start..
it has now become a pistol target cause I bought a new Stihl from Sloan's in Linden yesterday morning.. $200.. 
burned thru 6 tanks of gas yesterday.. never skipped a beat.

Hey burl, while your playing with it try advancing the timing a bit, removing the limiter straps on the carb and switch to 110 octane with some good oil, that should net some perforance too. Id say remove the base gasket buti doubt it has one.
