That's what I'm thinking Donnie. Dry rear end just hope it's not too late drove it home from whittemore with that noise. I don't think it's in 4hi. But I'll do some looking tomorrow

yeah i'm pretty sure  its in the drivetrain somewhere. I'll check the fluids in everything tomorrow. already planned to change the rear diff. the vent tube was open and full of dirt so i can just imagine whats inside. so might as well check the rest. just hope its not junk and i have to replace anything like that right now. but i'll do what i have too.

is it a stick? could be bearing on input shaft sonoma does that. If its auto, its prolly a dry rearend  ==kma

Most likely it's rear end.... if not dry then its probably the ring & pinon excessive play. also drop driveshaft and check tolerance on pinon in and out.

THE CHEAPEST AND EASIEST TO TRY FIRST THING IS THE U-JOINTS ON THE DRIVESHAFT..... 9 OF 10 SAYS THATS THE PROBLEM IN MY BOOK. IF NOT THEN IDE GO TO THE REAR DIFF.

Crazymays77

the rear driveshaft feels tight no play at all. maybe dry idk. heading out there now to work on it. hope i find the problem and its an easy cheap fix. lol

Crazymays77

well rear ujoint is bad and no fluid in diff. gonna pull it apart and see how the bearings are.

pinion bearings and the ring and pinion are worn out. they ran it without gear oil.
