In the middle of a trade agreement. Which one is better for wheeling? Cast iron 203 t case? Or a regular 205?
Will both of these mount right into a 88 k5?
Also will a 1990 th400 (4x4) trans mount to any of these cases?, then overall fit right into place of my k5?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

i might get flamed, but i dont care for either of those. the 203 is chain driven, and the 205 is a grumpy old man. find a replacement aluminum one if yours is broke. the 205 is the better case tho.

depends what 400 you have

Lol, mines not broke, I just have the stoke 700-r4 and stock 208. Looking to upgrade and rebuild. Looking to do some projects befor I leave for collage.

This a good trade?:
My 40" hawgs with rims for a th400 and 14 bolt ff rear end.

203's suck cause there full time, heavy as p00, and chain driven. Go with 205 but make sure that it was hooked to a 400. 208's work just fine too and are way lighter just make sure it was mounted to a 400 also. the sm420 stick tranny is i think the only tranny that has matching splines so if it was hooked to one of them it would work for a 400 tranny also.

Make sure it has a 32 spline input, if not, then its not for a 400. If its not, i wouldnt do the trade.

The t case is not involved in this trade, But for another. Can't I just get different tail shafts to make them fit?
I'll just use my 208 till I find the right thing. So just my tires for trans and ff? This isn't going in till summer. I plan on putting a full manual valve bodie and new stall converter on the 400 trans

Well i wouldnt do a full manual valve body... i would go semi manual, that way u do not have to always remember to start off in 1st gear. A semi manual will still only shift out of gear manualy but allows u to put it in drive and shift automatically.

It doesn't really bother me. I just like interactive driving. I would do a manual trans, but this just works better for me. I think...

#10
40" hawgs, $350-$450, depending on tread

TH400 - $125-$150
14 bolt FF - $100

not getting screwed on a deal - Priceless

not meanin your getting screwed, just that you might get more selling the tires outright, then buying those items and having cash left over...

BIG DOG

your 700 has a lower 1st gear   and your 208 is even lower yet  and is light in weight   thats is your best set up for the cheap $     change your gears if you feel you need lower yet        ff are cheap less than 200$.          a 700 and a 350  and a 400 all have differnt spine counts  matching them up to stuff is very important and the adaptor plates needed.
