I have a 91 Wrangler that is going to have a 4.0 and a 5 speed in it. Right now I have 2 different axles (rear was gone when I bought it). So they are geared differently. I also have the axles (geared the same) out of my 1971 GMC 1/2 ton pickup. I was thinking of putting those axles under the Jeep. Just wondering who has put gmc axles under one before, how difficult it is, and if it's worth it. Thank you. a=f

Thought about doing the engine, tranny and t-case, but I already have it all from my other Jeep, so I'm gonna just stick with that for now. Cheaper that way. a=f

if you dont mind the front axle sticking off to the right a inch it is easy. if you do mind it takes a little fabricating...I just did it to mine. you just have to grind perches off and put new ones (or reuse the old ones) on. it took me three hours to switch axles and weld new motor mounts in. but my axle stick to left a inch.....i used ford axles
I had the full size thing it just bored me!!!

The only people you need in your life are the ones who prove they need you in theirs

Its all fun and games till someone gets knocked up, down or out

Just torch off the old spring mounts and weld in some new ones in the right location. Pretty easy.
In need of a yank strap? PM me... I have 'em!

Thanks guys. Figured that's about all it'd take. I'm gonna make sure the axles are all good to go and gears are all good first, then I'll get to work on that. a=f

those are 73-87 gm axles with the only lift being a spring over axle the spring pad width is allready the same as a yj 31.5" and it gained roughly6" of lift the jeep also had a sbc motor 700r4 trans and a dodge np208 case with a gm input shaft because the dodge cases dont have the rear slip yoke and have a pass side drop

I like the look of that Jeep with the wide axles on it. I think I'll do this with mine as well. I just have to get back and start working on it! a=f
