88 k5 blazer (silverado package)

Has great redneck wiring, and I mean great not at all. Brake lights and interrior lights don't work, and the rear window stopped working. Touched the metal part of the dash with pliers and it sparked and popped. I'm getting ready to do an entire electrical overhaul. I'm putting in a new chrome steering column (no ignition or linkage, just turn signals) and I'm getting rid of everything I don't need. (heat, AC, blowers, computers, sensors, ect.) turning it from electrical to mechanical. But I can't figure out the wiring probs. How should I go about doing this? New fuse block with new harnesses? I'm also putting in a switch panel with my ignition there. I really need help. Must be finished by summer.

Thanks

Pull a used harness out of a matching truck. About your only option unless Painless sells a harness or something . . .

I meant like could I use the new harnesses from the steering column and the ones that come with the "painless" new fuse blocks.

Whichever you want.  I'd call painless and get the part number you need and call Summit and order it.  They ship really quick.
