been shootin my cross bow and it drops off pretty fast after 30 yards  so i thought a range finder would be a great investment so i bought a simmons with angle calculation feature (for shoot from stand) won the bid on ebay for 90.00 bucks  does anybody else use them?

I'm curious to know what crossbow? After my surgery, I couldn't pull my Mathews back so I too bought a crossbow. After a lot of comparing and research I went with the Barnett predator. No joke, at 80 yards I was just 2.5" to the right. Ranged it with the range finder. Make sure you have a very steady rest first and foremost. I don't plan to attemp the 80 yard shot on a deer though.

They are a very good thing to have. Simmons sells them for $129.99 new, and sometimes run a $50 rebait.

Too heavy a bolt would effect it but I wouldn't think that much. I shoot carbon express arrows. But my bow shoots 375fps and I think 130 lbs of kinetic energy. I'd be willing to bet the speed and kinetic energy is less on the Horton.
