Could someone give me a step by step on removing the diff from a 14 bolt rear?
Never done it before and don't want to mess anything up.

Pull the cover off and remove the bolts holding the retaining clips off, then screw in the cylinders with the holes next to the carrier.  Then it should pull out.  Just remember where the adjusters were at when u pulled it

Do the axle shatlfta gotta come all the way out? What do I do with the drum brakes?

Blazin40s

Just pull the shafts out a foot or so.  And u leave the drums alone.  I assume yer talkin about a 14ff?

Correct

Blazin40s

Real easy man.  Just gotta put it back the exact same way to keep the pinion lined up with the ring gear.  Also should be an articke on www.pirate4x4.com in the 14 bolt bible

Yep easy
1 pull diff cover off
2 pull both axle shafts out a ft or more
3 pull the 2 little two prong clips
4 pull the two retaining clips
5 turn the two cams on side of carrier till carrier comes out ( count the turns )
That's bout it

The purpose of the cams is to take up the slack or "runout" between the ring and the pinion. If you have forgotten the number of turns all u need is a dial indicator (and magnetic base) and adjust so there is only about .008" of runout between  them.
Hopefully Hell has a Mudpit!!!

Blazin40s

If its not adjusted properly you'll mess up the gear
