The hot wire comes from the run position on the key and goes to the round plastic thing on the side of the carb. ==np

Yes. Its a bi-metal spring inside and it gets warm and opens the choke. It stays warm the whole time motor is runnin. If you unhook it the choke closes as it cools off.

No. Youre choke will always be open, be real hard to start. Hook it up to the same spot that your dizzy wire hooks up to, but do not splice into the dizzy wire. If you splice into the dizzy wire you will draw juice away from the dizzy and lose a little or possibly alot of your spark. Find the terminal in your fusebox for the run position or hook it up right on the ignition switch on the terminal.

you only get power to the dizzy when the key is in run. so yes, if you were to wire to the same terminal that should be fine.

old school truck dude

Again, hook it to the terminal, dont splice into the wire, I been down that road before ;D

Kyle

make sure that power wire to the dizzy ur wiring it to IS NOT THE COIL if its an hei dist. after the motor is runnin the coil drops the supply down to 9 volts and the choke wont work properly then. needs to have a constant 12 volts

x100000000  The old points style was like that, the HEI runs on a constant 12 volts.  Its a resistor wire, it dont look quite like a regular wire, that was on the old points-style ;D
