1958 chevy step van

Im working on a fire truck for a friend of my moms and it needs a carb rebuild but i cannot find out what carb it is. Its a 1958 chevy step van with a gas inline six. thanks mike.

no it should be getting dropped off today so i can figure it out. it needs some other things to little rust repair and paint but it hasnt been drivin in about 15 years so im sure it needs much more i dont know about yet

will do. im not sure what all she wants done it was her husbands deal then he died so im not sure if im just fixing the rust and painting/blending or doin all the body work and painting it all. the only rust is on the hood the rest is clean and pretty straight its got an inline 6 manal trans but i do not know what either of them are.

cool some pics would help to id  it  probaly is a 235  most of those old carbs u can still get rebuilds for em  there really simple to do some of em had down draft carbs   im interested in the step van look of it  keep us  posted  on progress ==wgm

i believe options were a 216 and a 235, with 216 being garbage. on the 216 the rocker cover on the side goes all the way to the valve cover
