i just bought a 2000 ford super duty and the motor leaks antifreeze by intake and oil by rear main seal. it still runs good and don't overheat and it has good oil pressure. what i wanna know is how much of a pain in the azz is it gonna be to take this motor out and put as many new gaskets in it i can, and are the 5.4's a decent motor or what mines got 204,000 on it.

I cant complain about the 5.4 i have in my 1997 expedition. Pulled my bogger just fine with good power. Even pulled hay one year and my motor has 177,xxx on it. The only thing ive done to it so far is basic maintence and put a k&n cold air on it
if you can still see the color, you ain't muddin'

prolly intake gaskets, seen 2 of them last week... not really a big deal to change them...   antifreeze usually leaks from the crossover pipe and fills sparkplug holes up, misfires like crazy, leaks everywhere...  had that happen and the dude drove it for 6 months missing, needless to say his cats were toast!

my 4.6 does that, but has oil in the spark plug hole instead of antifreeze. any idea?
