I have done these hub bearing before it was last year bout may. And I took them apart and washed them and repacked the bearing and reassembled.. the races came out easy had no problems at all. But a few weeks ago I tore then off and had someone clean them and they took out the snap ring, race and bearing and they washed them but when I got them back I could not for the life of me get the races in. I had someone freeze them and then try and press them in and one exploded. I went and got new ones and I tried freezing one and dropping it in when had no luck. So what's is my issue? Need help please

I would say wrong races/bearings. but on a side not you don't "pack"  14 bolt bearings they are lubed with the gear lube that's in the axle..

OHEARN.2012

I got the part numbers off the 14 bolt bible and got them from car quest. So u don't pack the hub bearings?

No, the oil flows from the differential through the axle tubes to the bearings. It's wayyyy better than grease. All the semi trucks and real trailers use Oil Bath bearings as well, on front and rear axles.

OHEARN.2012

I didn't even know that lol so what shud I do about races?

how did you freeze them?
lol the freezer

==roll if that's as cold as it would take all the races would blow out when it snows outside. Nice try though.

New races should be able to be driven in with an installer tool and a hammer. That's what I'd do.

yea but.. how do u install a race into a 14 bolt hub?? there not like normal hubs that just push in from both sides tho

Probably shop press then. I always just changed the hub assembly when I destroy them.

sit hub on the axel flang put the outer bearing then the race in use brass punch. then put the inner bearing in and race then snap ring. all goes in from the drum side.

OHEARN.2012

i know that it all goees in thru inner side. but i just cant get the races down where they shud go
